RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Fairfield women's swimming team returned to the win column with an easy 103-71 victory at Manhattan on Nov. 18. With the victory, the Stags improve to 2-4 overall and 2-2 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

Senior Brittany Hunter captured the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:12.12, just .02 seconds off the program record.

Senior Jennifer Masi was victorious in the 50-yard freestyle, clocking a time of 25.93 seconds. Junior Liz Lawlor was third in a time of 27.03 seconds while junior Courtney Nicholas took third with a time of 27.69 seconds.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Buckheit captured the 200-yard freestyle with a personal best of 2:06.88. Junior Erin Carrather was the runner-up, touching in a time of 2:08.13. Freshman Jen Curtis took fifth with a time of 2:17.23. Buckheit also posted a personal best in the 100-yard freestyle, with a time of 58.67 seconds, which was good for third in the event.

Carrather recorded an individual victory in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:19.69 while Nicholas was the runner-up with a time of 2:25.26. Junior Sarah Dent, in her first meet of the season, posted a fifth-place finish in the event with a time of 2:29.39.

Sophomore Carolyn Sheppard won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:27.07 while freshman Marina Meliones placed third with a time of 2:35.82.

In the 200-year breaststroke, Lawlor captured the event with a time of 2:35.4343. Meliones placed fourth in the event with a time of 2:53.76.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Curtis was edged out for first place by Manhattan's Kellie Monaco by less than two-tenths of a second. Curtis finished as the runner-up with a time of 5:59.39

The 400 medley relay of Dent, Lawlor, Hunter and Masi captured the event in a time of 4:12.41.

Fairfield also posted a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay as Hunter, Carrather, Masi and Buckheit clocked a time of 3:54.

Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to the pool on November 28 when Fairfield hosts Iona at 6 p.m. at the RecPlex.
