LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - The Fairfield University women's swimming and diving team had a record-setting day, as it picked up a pair of wins against Siena and Sacred Heart, on Saturday at Siena College. Fairfield defeated Sacred Heart 100-42, and Siena 95-43.
With the wins, Fairfield improves to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
In all, the Stags set four school-records and two pool records. The 200-yard medley relay team of Sarah Dent, Elizabeth Lawlor, Brittany Hunter, and Jennifer Masi posted a 1:52.37, which eclipses the school-record set at last year's MAAC Championships. It also sets a new pool record of 1:53.17 held by Army.
The quartet also won the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:42.96, just two tens of a second off the pool record.
In addition to being a part of a record setting relay team Masi also set a school and pool record in the 50-yard freestyle with a 24.60. The old pool record was 24.79. Masi also won the 100-yard freestyle, setting a new school-record with a time of 54.35.
Lawor also won the 200 breaststroke with a new school-record of 2:30.69.
