Results

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Senior Brittany Hunter (Mt. Kisco, N.Y.) won three events while the Stags captured 13 out of 16 total events on the day as the Fairfield women's swimming and diving team powered past Siena and Sacred Heart this afternoon at the RecPlex. Fairfield (4-5, 3-3 MAAC) downed conference rival Siena, 93-47, and defeated cross-town foe Sacred Heart, 99-39.

For her second-straight dual meet, Hunter won all three individual events that she entered. She captured the 800m freestyle with a time of 9:34.00. She won the 400m freestyle with a time of 4:37.39 and then posted a win in the 200m individual medley with a time of 2:31.24.

Senior Jennifer Masi (North Haven, Conn.) notched two individual victories on the day. She captured the 50m freestyle with a time of 27.49, just .14 seconds off of her record-setting pace. She also won the 100m free with a time of 1:00.74.

Junior Liz Lawlor (North Wales, Pa.) and junior Sarah Dent (Albertson, N.Y.) rounded out the double winners in the swimming events. Lawlor won the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:18.48 and notched a victory in the 200m breaststroke with a time of 2:52.40. Dent was victorious in the 200m freestyle with a time of 2:19.63 and captured the 200m backstroke with a time of 2:34.43.

Junior Katharine Yee (Bethesda, Md.) swept both diving events. She posted a mark of 198.68 in the 1-meter while recording a score of 204.98 to win the 3-meter.

Junior Erin Carrather (Westwood, N.J.) also won an individual event, capturing the 100m backstroke with a personal best of 1:10.79.

Junior Rachel Waldstein (Needham, Mass.) picked up a pair of second-place finishes in the butterfly events. In the 200m fly, Waldstein posted a personal best of 2:34.57 but was touched out by Sacred Heart's Krystina Eikesith, who clocked a time of 2:34.09. Waldstein also posted a personal best of 1:10.43 in the 100m fly but was touched out by Sacred Heart's Eileen Connor, who recorded a time of 1:10.23.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Buckheit (Exton, Pa.) finished second in the 200m free with a time of 2:22.63. Buckheit also recorded a fourth-place finish in the 100m free (1:06.76) and a fifth-place finish in the 50m free (30.53).

Junior Courtney Nicholas (Farmingville, N.Y.) had a pair of fourth-place finishes in the 100m back with a time of 1:16.05 and in the 200m back with a time of 2:41.57.

Sophomore Carolyn Sheppard (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) finished fourth in the 200m fly with a time of 2:46.68. She also placed fourth in the 100m fly with a personal best of 1:16.71 and fifth in the 200m individual medley (2:45.34).

Freshman Marina Meliones (Wayland, Mass.) placed fifth in the 100m breaststroke with a time of 1:27.88 and fifth in the 200m breaststroke with a personal best of 3:05.74.

On the boards, freshman Hillary Urbancic (Concord, Mass.) was the runner-up in the 1-meter with a score of 170.78. In the 3-meter, sophomore Liz Freskakis (Riverdale, N.J.) took third with a mark of 132.23.

In the relays, the quartet of Dent, Lawlor, Waldstein and Masi captured the 200 medley with a time of 2:08.15. In the 200 freestyle relay, the foursome of Masi, Buckhheit, Lawlor and Hunter were touched out by Siena. The Saints posted a time of 1:54.79 while the Stags touched in a time of 1:55.64.

With the victories, Head Coach Bill Farley moves within two wins of become the all-time winningest coach in women's program history. Farley currently has 33 dual meet victories and with two additional victories, he will tie Phil Palumbo for the all-time record.

Both the men's and women's squads will return to action on January 20 when it hosts NJIT at 5p.m. at the RecPlex.
