FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams return to action with a dual meet at Yale on Friday at 5 p.m. and a dual meet at home against Holy Cross on Saturday at 1 p.m.

The Fairfield women enter the weekend with a 5-5 overall record, while the men's team has a 1-7 overall mark.

Fairfield opened the 2006 portion of its schedule with a dual meet against Maine on Monday afternoon. The women's team dropped a 141-96 decision to the Black Bears, while the men's team fell by a 146-96 count.

In the meet with the Black Bears, junior Jennifer Masi took both the 50-meter and 100-meter freestyle races, posting solid times in the process. In the 50-meter free, Masi touched the wall first with a 27.49, and then came back to finish ahead of the field in the 100-meter free with a 1:00.98.

Sophomore Katharine Yee swept both diving events for the Stags, as she posted a 234.00 on the one-meter board, and a 207.67 on the three-meter.

On the men's side, sophomore Sean McGonigle picked up a pair of wins in the 200-meter freestyle, and 400-meter freestyle. In the 200-meter free, posted a winning time of 2:03.26, and in the 400-meter free registered a 4:24.70.

Both the Yale men's and women's team competed last weekend against Cornell and Navy on the road at Cornell. The Holy Cross men's and women's team hosted Central Connecticut State and Vermont on January 15, before facing the Stags.

Following this weekend's meets, the Stags will return to the pool against Stony Brook, on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 1 p.m.
