FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University women's swimming and diving teams will host Manhattan College on Friday afternoon in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) meet against Manhattan College at the RecPlex Pool.
Fairfield enters the meet with the Jaspers with a 6-7 overall record and a 4-1 mark in the MAAC.
Fairfield will look to rebound after falling 163-76 to Stony Brook, last Saturday afternoon. The Stags were led in the meet by senior Bridget McKeon who posted a win in the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:18.87, and a second place finish in the 1650-yard freestyle with an 18:12.99. Junior Jennifer Masi finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a 2:02.66.
Manhattan is coming off a 113-76 loss to CW Post on January 28. The Jaspers were led by Sarah Szotak and Susie Mother who each won individual events. Mothes posted an 11:52.30 in the 1000 freestyle, which was the second fastest time in school-history. Szotak touched the wall first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:05.98.
Last year, the Stags defeated the Jaspers 111.5-68.5 in Riverdale. Rachel Waldstein took first place finishes in the 200 IM and the 100 butterfly, and was a member of the winning 400 medley relay team.
Kate Roche also captured a pair of wins touching the wall first in the 1000 freestyle and the 500 freestyle.
This will be the final home meet for McKeon, as she is the only senior on the Fairfield roster.
Following the meet with the Jaspers, the Stags will prepare for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships, February 16-18 at Loyola (Md.).
