FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University men's and women's swimming and diving teams completed the 2005-06 season last weekend at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Swimming and Diving Championships at the Fitness and Aquatic Center on the Loyola College campus.

The Stags broke seven school, and one MAAC Championship record in the three-day meet in Baltimore, Md. Junior Jennifer Masi led the Fairfield women's team, as she posted a 24.24 in the 50-yard freestyle to set a new school-record, and MAAC Championship record, in winning the event.

Masi also posted a 53.25 in the 100-yard freestyle, in finishing second overall in the race. The North Haven, Conn. native was also a part of three record-setting relay teams. The 200-medley relay team posted a 1:50.75. The 400-medley relay team registered a 4:04.08, and the 200-free relay team recorded a 1:40.50.

Junior Brittany Hunter broke four individual school-records in the MAAC Championships. Hunter, posted a 1:56.19 in the 200-freestyle, a 5:05.68 in the 500-freestyle, a 10:30.65 in the 1000-freestyle, and a 17:37.37 in the 1650-freestyle. Hunter was also a part of the 200-medley relay, and the 400-medley relay teams.

Sophomore Elizabeth Lawlor set new school-records in both breaststroke events. The North Wales, Pa. native touch the wall in 1:08.09 in the 100-yard breaststroke, and a 2:28.95 in the 200-yard breaststroke. She was also a part of the 200-medley relay, 400-medley relay, and 200-freestyle relay teams.

On the men's side, senior Sean Killelea posted a 4:14.56 in the 400yard IM, and was a part of the 200-medley relay team that posted a 1:40.16.

The Fairfield men's team finished in third place in the MAAC Championships with 320 team points, while the women's team finished fourth with 402 points.

The Stags had a combined eight swimmers and divers, selected to the MAAC All-Academic Teams. Killelea was selected to the team for the third consecutive season. He was joined by junior Tom Scappaticci, who earned his second appearance, and junior Charles Laub and sophomore Sean McGonigle who made their first appearances.

The women's team was led by Hunter, who garnered her second appearance on the team, along with senior Kate Roche, sophomore Jennifer Silvia, and sophomore Colleen Stranzl.
