The Fairfield men's and women's swimming and diving teams open its 2006-07 campaign this week with a pair of meets. The Stags host Saint Peter's on October 20 at 5 p.m. at the Rec Plex Pool and continue action on October 21 when they host Providence and Loyola at 1 p.m. Both teams are ready to carry the momentum from last season into the pool this year as they continue to improve and set new levels of success.

To help the Stags achieve success, Head Coach Bill Farley announced that there will be five upperclassmen serving as team captains this season. For the women's team, seniors Brittney Hunter and Jennifer Masi will serve as the captains while seniors Tom Scappaticci and Russ Laub and junior Rob Devine will be the men's captains.

The most important key for the two teams is that they are beginning to gel as an entire program. Both teams possess a strong work ethic and positive attitudes, and they are a highly competitive group. Led by several veteran captains, the Stags will certainly make some waves in 2006-07.

Women's Outlook The women's team will once again be highly competitive as they return 10 swimmers and divers from last season, including seniors Jennifer Masi and Brittany Hunter. Those swimmer and divers helped Fairfield to a 7-7 record and fourth-place finish at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships. Despite a small incoming freshman class this season, the Stags are loaded with talent and will vie for a MAAC title. Read more...
