Edison, N.J. - Fairfield University sophomore Katharine Yee (Bethesda, Md.) was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Diver of the Week, announced this afternoon by the conference office. Yee earns the first accolade of the year for the Stags.

In the Stags home opener on Sunday versus Saint Peter's, Yee set a new school record on the one-meter board. She put up a six-dive total of 250.30, which was good enough for first place in the event. The point total surpassed the previous mark, set by Catharine Bassi in 1992, by exactly seven points. With the meet well in hand for the Stags, ending in a 140-44 victory, Yee dove the three-meter event as an exhibition competitor, but would have tallied her second win of the day.

A graduate of Holy Child, Yee started the season with a pair of wins at Providence on Saturday. In the meet with the Friars the divers competed two one-meter events due to no three-meter board. She won both those events, the first of which was the required dives, with a total of 152.70 and then totaled 203.78 in winning the second event. The combined 10-dive total for Yee on the afternoon was 356.48, just shy of the school record for that as well (Bassi, 363.30 - 1992).

The Stags are 1-1 on the year and will return to action on Nov. 5th in Baltimore, Md., when they take on Loyola and Georgetown.
