Edison, N.J. - Fairfield University senior diver Rob Penwell was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Diver of the Week, announced Monday evening, by the conference office. It is the first honor of the year for Penwell, the second for the Stags.
Penwell earned the honor on the basis of his performance in the Stags tri-meet Saturday in Baltimore, Md., versus Loyola College and Georgetown University.
Penwell captured the one-meter diving event with a total of 202.30. In a dual with Hoya Santini Reali, Penwell bested his opponent by .30 points.
The dual continued between the pair on the three-meter board. Penwell put up a score of 215.95, but ended up in second place. Reali put up a number just 3.9 points higher then Penwell.
The Stags will return to action on Friday, Nov. 11, hosting MAAC foe Niagara, before traveling to Poughkeepsie, N.Y., for a Saturday afternoon dual with Marist.
