CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Fairfield University women's swimmer Jennifer Masi (North Haven, Conn./Sacred Heart Academy) was named the ECAC Division I women's swimmer of the week this afternoon.

This is the second honor for Masi who was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) swimmer of the week on December 6, after posting several solid showings in a tri-meet with Siena and Sacred Heart, and in a dual meet with Iona College.

On December 3, the Sacred Heart Academy graduate set several records against Siena and Sacred Heart. She set a Fairfield school-record and a Siena pool record in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.60. In the 100-yard freestyle, she set a new school-record, touching the wall in 54.35.

In addition to her record-setting individual performances, Masi was a part of a pair of winning relay teams. In the 200-yard medley relay, the Stags set a school-record with a 1:53.17; the previous school-best was set at the MAAC Championships last season. The winning time also set a new Siena pool record, which was previously held by Army.

She was also a part of the 200-yard freestyle team that finished with a winning time of 1:42.96, just missing a Siena pool record by a fraction of a second.

In the dual meet with the Gaels on November 29, she finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a 25.12 and second in the 100-yard freestyle with a 54.79.

The women's swimming and diving team finished the 2005 portion of its schedule with a 5-4 overall record, and an impressive 4-1 mark in the MAAC. The Fairfield men and women are idle until January 16, when they face the University of Maine in a dual meet, beginning at 1 p.m.
