
Stags Get Ready for MAAC Championships on Friday

The men's and women's cross country will head to the 2007 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Championships this Friday, Oct. 26, Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, N.Y. The women's race is set to begin 1 p.m. while the men are slated to start at 1:45 p.m.
Fairfield returns several harriers that have MAAC Championship experience.
For the women, Devann Ard ran a time of 25:14.5 last year while Jen Booton made her way around the course in a time of 26:07.2. Caroline Conant clocked a 26:15.4 while Ashley Doran recorded a time of 26:36.0.
On the men's side, Duncan Gerity posted a time 28:53.7. In his first MAAC Championship, Kevin Manke ran a time of 29:20.4 to finish third for the Stags. A.J. Lawrence clocked a time of 30:46.0.
Last season, the women's team placed eighth overall while the men's team placed ninth. Iona, with its fourth-ranked men's team, will look to defend its titles in both races.

Eight days after the MAAC Championships, Fairfield heads to Franklin Park in Boston for the NCAA Northeast Regionals and then returns to Van Cortlandt Park on November 17 when it competes at the ECAC/IC4A Cross Country Championships.
