Harriers Conclude Season at ECAC/IC4A Championships

BRONX, N.Y. - The Fairfield University men's and women's cross country team wrapped up its 2007 campaign with its annual outing at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Van Cortlandt Park.

Freshman Ben Heslin (Kensington, Conn.) crossed the line first for the Stags for the seventh time this season. He posted a time of 28:33 in this afternoon's five-mile IC4A University race. Freshman Thomas Fitzpatrick (Westfield, N.J.) was a minute off the pace crossing the line in 29:33. Sophomore Kevin Manke (Ridgewood, N.J.) was next with a mark of 29:48.

In their last collegiate race, seniors A.J. Lawrence (Warwick, N.Y.) and Duncan Gerity (Glastonbury, Conn.) had similar strides as Lawrence clocked a 30:03 while Gerity finished in 30:06. Freshman Jeff Paul (Schenectady, N.Y.) finished in 31:38 while freshman Khalid Zeidan (Fairfield, Conn.) had a time of 32:21.

In the 5K ECAC University race, junior Devann Ard (Watchung, N.J.) was the Stags' top finisher with a time of 21:29. Sophomore Caroline Conant (E. Longmeadow, Mass.) followed closely behind with a time of 21:48. Freshman Laura Daniels (Ramsey, N.J.) notched a time of 22:06 while sophomore Cara Feeney (Woburn, Mass.) had a time of 22:13.

Freshman Annie Rooney (Avon, N.J.) registered a time of 22:22 while sophomore Eileen Smith (Little Neck, N.Y.) posted a 23:04. Ashley Doran (Brick, N.J.) rounded out the group with a time of 23:43.

The men finished 21st while the women placed 23rd overall.
