Livesey, Heslin Lead Stags At NCAA XC Regionals

BOSTON - The Fairfield University men's and women's cross country teams each placed 31st at the NCAA Northeast Regionals held at a soggy Franklin Park this afternoon. Sophomore Nikki Livesey (Livingston, N.J.) was the first Stag across the line for the women while junior Benjamin Heslin (Kensington, Conn.) was the Fairfield men's top harrier.

Livesey clocked a time of 25:29 on the 6K course while classmate Lauren Londregan (Mystic, Conn.) was close behind in 25:37. Freshman Samantha Goodnow (Deerfield, Conn.) finished in 25:46 while sophomore Kristen Golen (Malvern, Pa.) was next in 26:03. On Golen's heels was Emily Davis (Wethersfield, Conn.) who finished in 26:04. Rounding out the group were sophomores Lauren Smith (Milton, Mass.) and Lauren Tehan (Portland, Ore.) who finished in 26:06 and 27:00, respectively.

Heslin traversed the men's 10K course in a time of 34:19, running more than a minute and a half faster than last season's performance. Heslin was followed by freshman Matt Boley (Kendall Park, N.J.) who finished in 35:23 and sophomore Steve Flanagan (Ramsey, N.J) who finished in 35:35. Sophomore Vin Ferrer (Belford, N.J.) clocked a time of 35:58 while freshman Kyle Short (Scottsdale, Ariz.) was close behind in 36:00. Freshman Dylan Fisher (Peterborough, N.H.) recorded a time of 36:04 while sophomore transfer Jon Juleus (Succasunna, N.J.) finished in 37:51.

Both Fairfield teams moved up one spot from last season. Syracuse captured the men's event by edging out Iona, 55-59. The Orange also won the women's event.

Fairfield concludes the season next weekend as it heads to Van Cortlandt Park for the ECAC/IC4A Championships.
