BOSTON - The Fairfield University men's and women's cross country teams finished the 2003 season on Saturday afternoon, at the 2003 NCAA Northeast Regional at Franklin Park. In arguably the toughest Region in the country the Fairfield men finished 30th, and the Fairfield women posted a 33rd place showing.
On the men's side Bryan Mahoney was the Stags' top runner posting a 34:18 over the 10,000-meter course. Justin Rindos followed with a 34:32, A.J. Kastanotis had a 36:08, Matt Borland finished with a 36:17, Mike Talmadge recorded a 37:55, Devin Hagen crossed the line in 38:24, and John Lacagnina finished an even 40:00.
On the women's side, Shannon Kenefick finished first for Fairfield with a 23:44 over the 6,000-meter course. Lauren Wilson was next with a 24:05, followed by Cara Muzik (24:34), Colleen Brasser (25:05), Julie Wargo (25:09), Taylor Dunn (25:30), and Kara O'Connell (26:09).
Iona won the men's team title with 58 points followed by Providence (73), Brown (94), Yale (111), Columbia (173), Dartmouth (182), New Hampshire (220), Harvard (260), Boston College (267), and Quinnipiac (286).
Providence won the women's team title with 49 points followed by Columbia (62), Dartmouth (103), Yale (135), Boston College (139), Cornell (213), Brown (297), New Hampshire (319), Stony Brook (373), and Iona (377).
