BRONX, N.Y. - Fairfield University senior Kara O'Connell posted one of the fastest times in school-history at Van Cortlandt Park, posting a 20:29.5 to lead Fairfield on Saturday at the 2005 ECAC/IC4A Championships O'Connell running in her final collegiate race, led the women's team, finishing 74th in the 5k women's race.
Junior Courtney Kincaid was second on the team, as she traversed the famed 5k Van Cortlandt Park course in 20:51.3. Freshman Devan Ard rounded out the top three, while leading a pack of three Fairfield women's runners. Ard found her way around the course in a time of 21:42.1. Senior Maryellen Pribish was right on her heels with a 21:42.7, and freshman Jennifer Booton followed with a 21:42.9.
Senior Shannon Kenefick crossed the finish line with a time of 22:23.5, and junior Liz Casey registered a 22:36.0.
Junior John LaCagnina led the Fairfield men, as he finished the five-mile race with a 28:56.8. Senior Andrew Lawrence finished his Fairfield career with a 30:00.7, and junior Dan Ryan was third with a 30:22.2.
Junior John Worrall finished as the fourth Fairfield runner with a 30:26.5. Junior John Fields followed with a 30:38.7. Senior Devin Hagan also finished his Fairfield career with a 30:45.5, and sophomore Duncan Gerity recorded a 30:57.0.
Saturday race completed the first season, with Head Coach Michael Owens at the helm of the Fairfield men's and women's cross country program.
