FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University Director of Athletics Eugene P. Doris announced today that Jennifer Wyshner has been named Head Men's and Women's Cross Country Coach. Wyshner comes to the Fairfield campus from Sacred Heart, where she served as an assistant track and field coach.

"Our goal is to improve our standing in the MAAC for both teams," Wyshner stated. "There is a lot of potential within the teams that can be tapped in the next couple of seasons."

Her coaching travels also include stints at Manhattan College, and Wagner College. She has coached multiple All-Conference honorees, and as a part of the Jasper coaching staff, nine Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Individual Championships in cross country, and track and field.

The New Hampshire native began her coaching career as an associate head coach for the men's and women's track and field teams at Wagner. In her time on the Staten Island campus, she coached her athletes to nine school-records, including a second-place finish at the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships.

From Wagner, she moved to Manhattan, where she was an assistant coach for the cross country and track programs. Along with the MAAC honors her athletes received, they also garnered spots on the ECAC All-East squad, and invitations to the ECAC Championships.

Before she began her coaching career, Wyshner was selected to the Patriot League All-Decade Team, after a stellar four-year career at Bucknell University. She also co-captained the 1998 Patriot League Conference Track and Field Champions. She also earned three individual Patriot League Titles, and held the school-record for the long jump for six seasons.

She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bucknell, a Master of Business Administration degree from Wagner, and is currently pursing another Masters in counseling at Fairfield. She is certified a Level I & II coach by USA Track & Field, and is currently a College and Guidance Counselor at Saint Joseph High School in Trumbull, Conn.

Wyshner currently resides in Trumbull, with her husband, Jeff, the men's and women's tennis coach at Fairfield.

Both the men's and women's cross country teams at Fairfield finished sixth at last seasons MAAC Championships at Van Cortlandt Park, in the Bronx, N.Y.
