2005: Allen appeared in 12 games in a reserve role for the Stags as a freshman ... He earned starts in five games, the last coming in the doubleheader at Yale ... A versatile player, he split time between the outfield and as the designated hitter ... He had a solid series against George Mason University ... In the game on March 13 he had a pinch-hit single, and then came around to cross the plate ... He would finish the series 1-for-3 at the plate with two runs scored ... In the nightcap of the Saint Joseph's doubleheader on March 19 he was 1-for-4 with a run scored ... Allen also scored a run in the first game of the doubleheader at Yale on April 20 going 1-for-3 at the plate.

Before Fairfield: Allen played four seasons of baseball at Mamaroneck High School ... He helped the Tigers to 76 wins over the course of his high school career ... The Tigers went 24-5 during the 2003 season en route to a Section I Championship ... Allen batted .492 with five homeruns and 35 runs batted in as a senior ... He finished his scholastic career with a .450 batting average with eight homeruns and 83 RBI ... He earned fourth-team All-State honors as a senior, in addition to being a first-team Section I selection ... In 2004 he was a first-team pick by the Journal News ... He was a member of the basketball team at Mamaroneck ... Allen was also a member of the National Honor Society.
