Stags Release 2008 Schedule

The Fairfield baseball team has released its 2008 schedule. In addition to their 24 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) games, the Stags will have a very competitive non-league slate, featuring teams from the Big East, the ACC, and the SunBelt Conference.

Fairfield begins the season in Mobile, Ala., February 22-24, as the Stags compete at the Coca-Cola Classic hosted by South Alabama. Fairfield will also face Kentucky and Xavier during that tournament.

The Stags make a return trip to the southeast as they head to Bradenton, Fla. for their annual Spring Break trip from March 2-7. Fairfield will face Villanova, Western Michigan, Bowling Green, and Central Michigan. The Stags will also head to Fort Myers, Fla. to take on Florida Gulf Coast during their stay in the Sunshine State.

Other non-conference opponents include Hartford, Sacred Heart, Fordham, Quinnipiac, Central Connecticut, UConn, Stony Brook, New York Tech, and LeMoyne.

Fairfield plays its first home game of the year on March 18 against St. John's University as a part of a home and home series with the Red Storm. The Stags' MAAC opener will be on March 22 at home as Marist visits Alumni Diamond.

The 2008 MAAC Championship will be held May 22-24 in Trenton, N.J.
