
Baseball Splits Doubleheader With Marist To Open MAAC Play

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield opened Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play this afternoon by splitting a doubleheader with Marist at Alumni Diamond.
Sophomore Rob Gariano tossed a complete game, two-hit shutout in the opening game to help the Stags to the 1-0 victory. Gariano fanned seven batters while walking just two Red Foxes over nine innings. Sophomore Jason Rago provided the offense for the Stags with the RBI on a groundball.
Marist took the night cap with the 3-0 win as the Red Foxes held Fairfield to just two hits. Senior Ryan Calabrese took the loss for the Stags.
The two teams will be back in action on Monday, March 24, at 1pm at Alumni Diamond.
