The baseball team opened its 2007 campaign with a doubleheader split at Delaware State Saturday afternoon. The Stags fell in the opening game, 8-6, but bounced back in game two with a 9-6 victory.
The Stags displayed its offense banging out 21 hits, including three doubles and four homer runs. Peter Allen went a combined 4-for-7, including two doubles and two homeruns, with four runs scored and four runs batted in. Freshman David Dudish had an outstanding debut for Fairfield going 3-for-8 on the day with five runs batted in.
Transfer Ryan Calabrese picked up the win for the Stags in game two, throwing six innings and striking out six battters.
Fairfield will wrap up the three-game series at Delaware State on Sunday at noon.
