Final Stats

BRADENTON, Fla. - The baseball team suffered a tough 9-8 loss to Vermont in 11 innings on Monday afternoon at the IMG Academy.

The score was knotted at 4-4 in the top of the tenth when the Stags erupted for four runs to take an 8-4 advantage. Two of those RBI belonged to junior Adam Chilelli who came through with a pinch-hit double. However, Vermont rallied back once again to even the contest in the bottom half of the tenth and force an 11th frame.

The Stags were kept off the board in the top of the 11th. In the bottom half of the innning, the Catamounts managed to load the bases. Vermont's Justin Albert drove in Kyle Massie with a single to seal the victory for the Catamounts.

Several Stags had multi-hit games. Junior Peter Allen continued to do well at the plate going 4-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI. Freshman David Dudish went 3-for-5 with one run scored and an RBI. Junior Albie DeSimone went 2-for-5 with a run scored.

Senior Ed Kamintzky had a solid start tossing six innings allowing just six hits, four runs (two earned), while striking out six batters. Freshman Mike Fournier came on in relief for the Stags, going three and two-thirds innings allowing three runs on six hits with three strikeouts. Sophomore closer Dan Gallagher picked up the loss, allowing five hits and two runs in just two-thirds of an inning.

The Stags continue action in Florida tomorrow, March 13, when they face Bucknell.
