Final Stats

BRADENTON, Fla. - The Fairfield baseball team was again greeted with some tough pitching from its opponent this morning as the Stags fell to Miami (Ohio), 8-2 in non-conference action.

Fairfield started the scoring in the top of the first inning. Junior Patrick Hoban (North Haven, Conn.) opened the game with a single to right field and would then move to second base on a wild pitch. After Peter Allen (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) reached on a walk, all of the runners moved up a base on a passed ball. Junior Brian Rudolph (Washington Twp., N.J.) corked a single to center to score both base runners.

Unfortunately, the Stags would not cross the plate again due the strong outing by RedHawks' lefty Robert Shannon. The hurler captured his first career win, giving up just two earned runs and three hits while striking out two batters in five innings of work.

The RedHawks bats came alive in the bottom of the third inning scoring five runs in the frame. Miami added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to set the final score at 8-2.
