BRADENTON, Fla. - Sophomore Peter Allen (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) and junior Brian Schappert (Wyckoff, N.J./Saint Joseph's University) each had a pair of hits as Fairleigh Dickinson defeated the Fairfield University baseball team 7-4, Thursday afternoon at the IMG Sports Academy.
The Stags (3-8) score one run in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two in the ninth to account for their run total on the day.
Allen finished the afternoon, going 2-for-4 with his first homerun of his career. Schappert was 2-for-5 with a double. Senior Doug Anderson (Randolph, N.J./Delbarton) went 1-for-3 with a double and a run batted in.
Freshman Dan Gallagher (Allendale, N.J./Bergen Catholic), who got his first save of his career the last time out, tossed three innings of relief, giving up only two hits and a walk, while striking out one batter.
Fairfield completes its trip to the "Sunshine State," on Friday afternoon against Bradley University at the IMG Sports Academy. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
