Box Score

BRADENTON, Fla. - Senior Andy Lynn (Montville, N.J./Delbarton) went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, and senior Sal Mancuso (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) went 1-for-4 with two runs batted in and a double, as the Fairfield University baseball team fell to Bucknell in a seven inning game on Wednesday afternoon in Florida.

The game was originally scheduled for Tuesday, but heavy rains in Florida forced the postponement until this afternoon.

Sophomore Doug Anderson (Randolph, N.J./Delbarton) went 1-for-3 with a run batted in and a run scored for the Stags.

Sophomore Steven Tyburski (Feasterville, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) took the ball for the start of the game, but yielded six runs on seven hits in three and two-thirds innings of work. The sophomore right-hander also recorded three strikeouts against the Bison hitters.

Senior Pablo Tamayo (Miami, Fla./Ransom Everglades) pitched two and a third innings in relief giving up two runs on four hits.

Bucknell crossed the plate five times in the bottom of the second inning, but Fairfield came back in the top of the third to put four runs on the board. Senior Nick Hudyma (New Britain, Conn./New Britain) started things off with a single through the left side. Lynn was up next and he stroked a single through the right side. That brought Mancuso to the batters box, where he smacked a double to left center field to clear the bases, for the Stags first run of the afternoon.

After a ground out by senior Antuan Barnett (Bronx, N.Y./Rice) Anderson singled to left field to bring home Mancuso. The rally kept going, as Anderson stole second to put a runner in scoring position for senior Derek Leon (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit) who singled to centerfield to bring the Stags within one run of the Bison.

Bucknell added another run in the home half of the third inning, when Austin Barrett had a RBI single through the left side of the Fairfield infield, to make it 6-4.

However, the Stags tied the game with runs in the top of the fifth and sixth innings. In the fifth, Barnett singled to start the inning, and would later come home when junior David Soucy (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) reached on an error. The next inning Lynn scored on a passes ball to knot it up at 6-6.

Yet, Bucknell would add a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, when Kyle Walter singled to left field to bring home Sam Moss and Chris Mahoney.

Fairfield concludes its spring trip to the Sunshine State, on Thursday afternoon, with a nine-inning game against Dartmouth at the Baseball Academy. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m.
