JAMAICA, N.Y. - St. John's scored five runs in the fourth inning and six pitchers combined to give up three runs on nine hits as the Red Storm beat Fairfield, 11-3, at the Ballpark at St. John's.

With the game tied at 2-2 in the fourth inning, Jim Martin and Eddie Schultz drew leadoff walks and Mike Rozema reached on a bunt single to load the bases. A single from Brett Hardie broke the tie and Billy Graiser reached on a fielder's choice, scoring Schultz and giving St. John's a 4-2 lead. A wild pitch by freshman Dan Breen brought in Rozema and Anthony DeRosa followed with a two-run homerun to leftfield to give the Red Storm a 7-2 lead.

Fairfield falls to 2-5 on the season, while St. John's improves to 5-11 overall, as it snapped a three-game losing streak.

Fairfield crossed the plate twice in the first inning with an RBI single from junior Antuan Barnett(Bronx, NY/Rice) and a double from Sal Mancuso (Bethpage, NY/Bethpage).

The Stags return to action tomorrow afternoon with a non-league tilt at Central Connecticut State. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m., in New Britain. '
