BRADENTON, Fla. - Dartmouth's Tim Grant pitched eight innings of shutout ball, to keep the Fairfield University baseball team in check, as the Big Green defeated the Stags, 5-0 on Thursday afternoon, in Fairfield's final game in Florida.

The Stags (2-5, 0-0 MAAC) finished its Sunshine State swing with a 2-3 record.

Grant yielded only four hits, and struck out six Fairfield batters on the day. Fairfield's junior Tim Dugan (Cedar Grove, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) made his first start of the season, and he gave up four runs, three of which were earned, on seven hits. Dugan like his counterpart from Dartmouth recorded six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Fairfield managed only four hits in the game, as senior Sal Mancuso (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage), sophomore Doug Anderson (Randolph, N.J./Delbarton), junior David Soucy (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury), and sophomore John Scaife (Ansonia, Conn./Ansonia) each had hits for the Stags.

Anderson and Mancuso kept their hitting streaks alive, as they are each riding a five-game hitting streak, including today's game.

Dartmouth scratched a run across the board in the bottom of the fourth inning, and then added three in the bottom of the fifth, and bottom of the eighth.
