FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Central Connecticut State University pounded out 14 hits to take a 10-6 decision over the Fairfield University baseball team, Wednesday afternoon, at Alumni Diamond.

Robert Hosgood led the Blue Devils (8-3) at the plate by going 3-for-5 with a home run and five runs batted in on the afternoon. Phil Rothkugel went 2-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored, as CCSU took the season series with the Stags (2-10). The Blue Devils won a 7-4 rain shortened seven-inning game on March 20.

Freshman Doug Anderson (Randolph, NJ/Delbarton) went 3-for-5 on the day for the Stags with a run scored. Junior Andy Lynn (Montville, NJ/Delbarton) went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Junior Antuan Barnett (Bronx, NY/Rice) extended his hitting streak to eight games with a single in the bottom of the fourth inning.

Junior Mike Wray (Mahopac, NY/Mahopac) collected all three of his runs batted in with one swing in the bottom of the fourth inning. Wray hit his second home run on the season taking a Don Crossman pitch over the left centerfield fence.

Crossman picked up the win scattering four runs on 10 hits, while striking out three batters in seven innings of work. Fairfield's Tim Dugan (Cedar Grove, NJ/Seton Hall Prep) took the loss giving up five runs on eight hits, and two walks. He recorded three strikeouts on the afternoon.

Fairfield travels to West Point, NY, for a non-conference tilt with Army, beginning at 3:30 on Thursday afternoon. The Stags will return home for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series with Niagara University starting on Saturday afternoon.
