SIMSBURY, Conn. - The University of Hartford, kept the Fairfield University bats at bay, defeating the Stags 6-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Memorial Field. Hartford had 10 hits on the afternoon, while Fairfield managed three.

The Stags (5-15) have been accustomed to lengthy games as of late, but Tuesday's game lasted only 2:10.

Hartford (1-7) scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth, fifth, and seventh innings, as Fairfield was shut out for only the second time this season.

Freshman Ryan Hoffman (West Sayville, N.Y./St. Anthony's) got the ball for the Stags, and he gave up four runs on six hits and two walks. Hoffman (0-4) did strike out six Hawks.

Jason Krajeski pitched seven innings for Hartford, yielding two hits and two walks, and struck out four hitters.

Junior Jim Girolamo (Wayland, Mass./Wayland) was 1-for-4 at the plate, while junior Doug Anderson (Randolph, N.J./Delbarton) went 1-for-2 with two walks. Freshman Adam Chilelli (Garden City, N.Y./Garden City) had the only other hit for the Stags.

Fairfield returns to action on Wednesday afternoon, when the University at Albany pays a visit to Alumni Diamond for a 3 p.m. first pitch.

After the non-conference game with the Great Danes, the Stags will head to Syracuse, N.Y., for a three-game Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series with Le Moyne College.
