PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y. - Pace University would score six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to break the game open, and cruise to a 10-1 victory over the Fairfield University baseball team at Finnerty Field on Tuesday afternoon.
The Stags (6-18-1, 4-7 MAAC) broke the ice in the top of the first inning, with a walk with the bases loaded by the Setters (5-25) starter Jonathan Huff.
But, Pace would come back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third inning, along with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings before batting around in the bottom of the seventh.
Fairfield, was playing in its fourth game in three days, was led at the plate by junior Greg Batista and freshman Doug Anderson who each went 1-for-4. Leadoff hitter Mark Geanuleas who officially go 0-for-1, but he reached base three times getting hit by a pitch twice and drawing a walk.
Ricky Piovesan had a hot bat for the Setters going 2-for-5 with three runs batted in, and two runs scored.
Fairfield returns to action on Wednesday afternoon, as it will face the University of Rhode Island at Alumni Diamond. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m.
