LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. - Siena College scored five times in the bottom of the fifth inning, and four in the bottom of the seventh to come away with a 12-2 win over the Fairfield University baseball team, in the final game of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series at Siena Field on Sunday afternoon.

Siena (16-16, 6-4 MAAC) pounded out 16 hits against Fairfield (9-14, 5-7 MAAC) pitching.

The Stags broke the ice in the top of the second inning as junior David Soucy (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) doubled down the left field line. Soucy came home, when sophomore Tom Arpino (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) reached base on an error by the Siena centerfielder. Soucy was able to come home on the play.

Siena then scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 5-1 lead. The Saints then added a run in the bottom of the sixth.

Fairfield pushed a run across in the seventh, as sophomore Doug Anderson (Randolph, N.J./Delbarton) stroked an RBI double to right center field to plate senior Antuan Barnett (Bronx, N.Y./Rice), who had a one-out triple.

In the bottom of the seventh, Siena took control scoring on a Sac-fly, and a two-run single, to bring four runners home. An inning later the Saints posted two-runs on the board to close the books on the afternoon.

Barnett was 1-for-4 with a run scored, and his second triple of the season. Senior Nick Hudyma (New Britain, Conn./New Britain) was also 1-for-4 at the plate for the Stags. Soucy was 1-for-3 with a run scored.

Senior Matt Young (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) gave up five runs, three earned, on nine hits, and two walks, on the hill for Fairfield. Young (1-1) struck out five Saints on the day.

Fairfield will travel to Storrs, Conn., on Tuesday afternoon for a doubleheader against the University of Connecticut. The game was originally slated to be a single nine-inning affair, but the April 1 game against the Huskies was washed out.

First pitch for the two seven-inning games is scheduled for 2 p.m. at J.O. Christian Field
