POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The Fairfield University baseball team fell to Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe, Marist College, 11-1, this afternoon on the McCann Baseball Field, completing the three-game series sweep.

The Red Foxes are now 22-10-1 overall and 12-3 in MAAC play, while the Stags fall to 6-22-1 on the year and 4-10 in conference action.

Kevin Ool threw his first complete game of the season, allowing one run on just eight hits, and striking out five Fairfield batters. The Stags scored in the second inning before Ool shut them down to improve to 3-0 on the year.

Trailing 1-0, Marist tied the game in the bottom of the third when Keith Brachold singled to score Eric Johnson. Mike Sidoti led off the fourth inning with a double, to start a four run inning for Marist, highlighted by a two RBI double from Brachold. The Red Foxes added two more in the fifth inning and the final four runs in the eighth, to earn the 11-1 win.

Brachold extended his hitting streak to 18 games with the single in the third inning, and finished the game 3-4 with four RBI and a run scored. Sidoti finished the afternoon 4-5 with a double, a run and an RBI, while John McGorty tacked on a 1-for-3 effort, tripling, driving in two runs and scoring two of his own. Kevin Buck was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, as each Marist player had at least one hit or one RBI in the contest.

Fairfield starting pitcher Pablo Tamayo (Miami, Fla.) fell to 0-5 on the year, giving up six runs on nine hits in his 5.0 innings of work. Matt Coolidge (Sandwhich, Mass.) went 2.2 innings and allowed four runs on five hits, before Dan Breen retired the final out of the eighth inning, after allowing a single.

Freshman Doug Anderson (Randolph, N.J.) led the Stags at the plate going 3-for-4, while junior Sal Mancuso (Bethpage, N.Y.) went 1-for-3 with a double and a run scored.

Fairfield is back in action on Tuesday afternoon, when it travels to the University of Connecticut for a 3 p.m. first pitch.
