FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University baseball team dropped its season finale to Manhattan College, 12-7, in the third game of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series on Saturday afternoon, at Alumni Diamond.

Josh Greco led the Jaspers (25-24, 15-10 MAAC) at the plate going 3-for-5 with four runs batted in and a run scored. Eric Fierro also had four RBI going 2-for-3 with two runs scored.

Fairfield (7-34-1, 5-21 MAAC) got on the board in the bottom of the second inning when junior Sal Mancuso (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) hit his third homerun in two days, to tie the game at 2-2, with junior Antuan Barnett (Bronx, N.Y./Rice) sitting on first base, after starting the inning off with a walk.

Manhattan would score three in the top of the third, but in the bottom of the frame freshman John Scaife (Ansonia, Conn./Ansonia) hit his third homerun of the season.

The Jaspers would cross the plate twice in the top of the fifth, and three times in the top of the sixth inning. The Stags would cut the Jasper lead to 10-5 when junior Mike Wray (Mahopac, N.Y./Mahopac) singled up the middle to bring home freshman Doug Anderson (Randolph, N.J./Delbarton) and Barnett.

Fairfield would again put two runs in the books in the top of the seventh inning when sophomore Greg Batista (Syosset, N.Y./Syosset) smacked his seventh homerun of the season over the centerfield fence.

Manhattan would add a pair of insurance runs in the top of the ninth inning, and Jasper reliever Steve Bronder would get the first two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning. But, Barnett would double to right, and Mancuso drew his second walk of the afternoon to start a rally. Anderson grounded into a fielder's choice and Manhattan third baseman Frank Cappello tagged Barnett for the final out of the inning.

Barnett would go 3-for-4 with two runs scored, and junior Andy Lynn (Montville, N.J./Delbarton) went 2-for-5 with a run scored.

Manhattan starter Mike Parisi would collect the win scattering five runs on seven hits and three walks in six innings of work. Parisi struck out seven Stags on the afternoon.
