O'Fallon, Mo. - Former Stag Tim Dugan will suit up for the River City Rascals of the Frontier League during the upcoming 2007 season. Dugan was traded to the Rascals from the North Shore Spirit of the CanAm League last month.
According to the team's website, Rascals' manager Toby Rumfield loves Dugan's approach and presence on the mound. "I really like the way Tim commands the strike zone. I'm expecting him to have a big year for us," Rumfield said in a press release.
After graduating from Fairfield in 2005, Dugan spent the 2006 season with the North Shore Spirit where he posted a 3.14 ERA in 28.2 innings of relief work.
The left-hander recorded seven wins in his senior season at Fairfield and finished third on the Stags' all-time strike out list with 189. He also ranks among the top ten in wins, appearances and innings pitched.
The Frontier League is a twelve-team independent professional baseball league with franchises in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.
The River City Rascals have appeared in the Frontier League playoffs in six of the last seven seasons. The Rascals' most successful alumnus is hurler Josh Kinney, who pitched in the World Series for the St. Louis Cardinals.
The Rascals open the 2007 season on May 25. For more information on Dugan and the team, visit www.rivercityrascals.com.
