FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University baseball team was picked to finish seventh, in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) according to Baseball America's 2003 college baseball preview issue.
The publication tabbed defending champion Marist College to repeat followed by LeMoyne, Manhattan, Rider, Siena, and Iona. Niagara follows the Stags in eighth; Saint Peter's and Canisius round out the field.
Last season the Stags finished with a 20-30 overall record, and a 12-15 mark in the MAAC.
Head Coach John Slosar enters his 19th season as the Stags skipper and 27th overall, spending eight years as an assistant coach.
Fairfield opens the 2003 season with a three-game series with George Washington, March 8-9. The Stags will face the likes of Fordham, Drexel, Villanova, UMBC, St. John's, and Central Connecticut State, before opening their home portion of its schedule against MAAC foe Siena on March 22.
