RICHMOND, Va. - The Fairfield University baseball team's game with Virginia Commonwealth University slated for Tuesday afternoon, has been cancelled due to inclement weather.

Tuesday's contest with the Rams was originally slated to be the 2005 season opener for the Stags, last Saturday, but rain forced the postponement until today. Sunday's doubleheader with VCU went on as planned, with the Stags falling to the Rams, 7-5, and 19-2.

In all likelihood, Tuesday's VCU game will not be made up.

Fairfield will stay in Virginia for a nine-inning game at Liberty University on Wednesday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. at Worthington Stadium.

Following the tilt at Liberty, the Stags will travel to Radford on Thursday for a 2:30 p.m. game, and then begin a three-game series with George Mason on Saturday afternoon at 12 p.m.
