FAIRFIELD, Conn. -

Setting the Scene: The Fairfield University baseball team travels to Villanova University on Friday afternoon, to take part in the Villanova Baseball Bash. Fairfield will face the host Wildcats with a 3 p.m. start on Friday ... Then the Stags will meet Saint Joseph's and Temple on their home diamonds on Saturday and Sunday, with both start times at 12 p.m.

Series History: Fairfield will meet Villanova for only the second time in the series history on Friday afternoon ... The Wildcats lead the series 1-0 ... Fairfield will meet Saint Joseph's and Temple for the first time in school-history this weekend.

MAAC Kudos: Freshman Adam Chilelli was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week on Monday afternoon ... In six games for the Stags last week, the Garden City, N.Y., native batted .300, collecting three hits and driving in two RBI ... He is second on the team with a .294 batting average and leads the team in runs batted in with four ... Chilelli is also hitting .600 (3-5) with runners in scoring position.

Quality Starts: Sophomore Ed Kamintzky, despite getting tagged with a 1-0 loss at Liberty University on March 9, gave the Stags a solid outing ... The Astoria, N.Y. native, pitched eight innings of one-run ball, on four hits and four walks ... Kamintzky struck out five Liberty batters ... In two starts Kamintzky leads the MAAC in ERA with a 1.00 earned run average.

Leading the Way: Junior John Scaife is leads the team in hitting with a .304 batting average ... Scaife has seven hits with a homerun, and is tied for the team lead in doubles with three ... The Ansonia, Conn., native also leads the team in slugging percentage (.565), and on-base percentage (.385).

Closing In On: Senior Tim Dugan recorded three strikeouts last time out against George Mason University ... The New Jersey native needs 35 to tie Steve Colcord (1998-2001) for fifth place on the school's all-time strikeout list with 162 ... Last season for the Stags Dugan led the team with a career-high 61.

D-Fense: Fairfield is leading the MAAC in fielding percentage with a .973 mark ... Fairfield has recorded 180 putouts, while committing only seven errors ... Marist is second in the MAAC with a .962 mark ... LeMoyne is third with a .953 mark, and Niagara is fourth with a .948 fielding percentage.

On Deck: Fairfield will have a pair of non-league games before opening MAAC play on the road at Marist the weekend of March 26-27 ... Fairfield travels to St. John's on March 22 at 3 p.m., and the next day returns home for the 2005 home opener against In-state foe Central Connecticut State ... First pitch for the home opener is slated for 3 p.m. at Alumni Diamond.
