This Week - After getting off to a 1-8 start on their southern trip, the Stags return north for a game at Hofstra on Wednesday at 3:00 pm. The Stags will play a doubleheader at New York Tech on Saturday and play their first home game of the season on Sunday when they host New York Tech at 12:00 pm.

Coach's Corner - Head Coach John Slosar is in his 15th season at the helm of the Stags and carries a career record of 248-290-6 into Wednesdays contest. Before taking over the reigns in 1984, Slosar served as an assistant coach at Fairfield for eight years. All totaled, since coming to Fairfield, Slosar has helped the Stags to one MAAC Championship, four MAAC South titles, six ECAC playoff appearances and nine 20-win seasons. In the last four years, Slosar has led the Stags to three seasons of 20 wins or more and two MAAC South Championships, including the 1997 South crown. For his efforts in 1997, he was named MAAC South Coach of the Year.

Captain - The Stags have only one captain on this years squad. Senior secondbaseman Cristian Jung (Brewster, NY) is second on the Stags with a .273 batting average. He leads the team in hits (9) and doubles (2).

Off and Running - The Stags are 21-for-26 in stolen base attempts through the first nine contests of the year, averaging 2.3 per game.

Stag Leaders - Junior center fielder Jim Lopusznick (Leonardo, NJ) leads the Stags in hitting with a .364 batting average. Lopusznick also leads the team in RBI (4) and is second in stolen bases (4) behind fraternal twin brother Tom Lopusznicks (Leonardo, NJ) seven stolen bases. Freshman first baseman Ryan Bittner (Emerson, NJ) leads Fairfield with two home runs.

Last Time Out - On Sunday, the Stags out-hit UNC-Wilmington 9-7, but it wasnt enough as the Seahawhs came from behind to defeat Fairfield 6-4. The Stags led 4-2 going into the bottom of the seventh, but allowed four more runs in the final two innings. Cristian Jung went 3-for-4 with two runs scored while Ryan Bittner was 2-for-5 on the day, including a double.
