FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University baseball team returns from its spring break trip to Florida with a pair of mid-week games against St. John's on Tuesday afternoon, and Central Connecticut State on Wednesday. The Stags host the Red Storm for the 2006 home opener, on Tuesday afternoon. First pitch is slated for 3 p.m. Wednesday's game is also slated for 3 p.m. at Alumni Diamond.
Quick Hits:
The Stags finished their spring break with a 3-4 record ... In the last game against Bradley, junior Ed Kamintzky picked up his second win of the season and 10th of his career, by pitching eight shutout innings ... Kamintzky (2-2) struck out four batters in the win ... Senior centerfielder Jim Girolamo was 4-for-6 with six runs batted in and three runs scored in the 20-11 win over Valparaiso ... Senior first baseman John Scaife went 3-for-5 with five runs batted in ... Junior second baseman Brian Schappert reached base five times in the 6-4 win over Eastern Kentucky ... Schappert leads the Stags in hitting with a .354 (17-48) batting average ... Freshman Doug Ciallella won his first career game against EKU, giving up three runs on six hits and three walks in five innings ... Senior shortstop Doug Anderson led the Stags at the plate in Florida batting .350 (7-20) with six runs batted in and four runs scored.

St. John's holds a 15-4 overall record against the Stags in the series history ... Fairfield beat the Red Storm, 18-13, last season on the road.
CCSU Series History:
Central Connecticut leads the long-running series with the Stags 32-26-1 ... The two teams did not meet last season ... The teams split the season series in 2004, as each team won on the others home field ... Central Connecticut won 9-5 at Alumni Diamond on March 23, 2004, and the Stags won 7-4 on March 30, 2004 in New Britain, Conn.
Scouting the Red Storm: St. John's is 8-7 on the season, after a three-game series against Quinnipiac last weekend ... The Red Storm will play four games on the road this week ... Scouting the Blue Devils:
CCSU is 7-3 on the season, and will host Boston College in New Britain on Tuesday afternoon ... The Blue Devils have won seven of their last eight games, after pounding Holy Cross, 20-6 on Sunday afternoon ... CCSU is coached by Charlie Hickey who is in his seventh season at Central Connecticut State.
