FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University baseball team opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action this weekend, when Marist College comes to Alumni Diamond for a three-game series, starting with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. The Stags enter this weekend's series with a 2-7 overall record, while the Red Foxes come to town with a 4-14 record. This will be the first, MAAC games for both teams this season.

All-Time vs. Marist... This weekend's meetings will be the 24th, 25th, and 26th meetings between the two schools. Marist holds a 19-4 edge in the all-time series.

About Marist... Marist is coming off a 7-0 shutout loss to Yale on Wednesday afternoon. This weekend the Red Foxes travel down I-95 for their first conference action of the season.

Fairfield Last Time Out... Sophomore Tom Arpino (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) led the Stags at the plate going 3-for-4 with two runs batted in, against Central Connecticut on Wednesday afternoon, at Alumni Diamond. Senior Nick Hudyma (New Britain, Conn./New Britain) chipped in with two hits, two stolen bases and two runs scored.

Quick Hits... Sophomore Doug Anderson (Randolph, N.J./Delbarton) is Fairfield's leading hitter, batting .290 with three homeruns and nine runs batted in ... Nick Hudyma is right behind with a .250 batting average with nine hits, including a double and a triple ... Hudyma has four multiple hit games this season ... Anderson and senior Sal Mancuso (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) each had a five-game hitting streak earlier this season ... On the hill, senior Matt Young (Berlin, Conn./Berlin) has a 2.70 ERA and a spotless 1-0 record. senior Tom Maisano (Farmingdale, N.Y./Chaminade) is also 1-0, and has a 2.77 ERA and nine strikeouts. Junior Tim Dugan (Cedar Grove, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) is the team leader in strikeouts with 10.
