FAIRFIELD, Conn. - After dropping the final game of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series on Sunday to Canisius College, the Fairfield University baseball team will look to get back in the win column with a non-league game against the University of Hartford on Tuesday afternoon.

Fairfield is 6-10 overall, and 3-3 in the MAAC, after last weekend, while the Hawks come to town with a 5-11 overall record. They have not played any games against America East opponents so far this season.

All-Time vs. Hartford... Today's meeting with the Hawks is the 50th all-time between Fairfield and Hartford. Fairfield holds a 25-23-1 lead in the series. Last year the game in Hartford was washed out. In 2002 the Hawks defeated the Stags, 3-0 at Alumni Diamond.

About Hartford... Hartford comes to town with a 5-11 overall record. Ron Acabbo leads the team with a .393 batting average. He has 24 hits, seven runs batted in and two homeruns in 61 at-bats. On the hill, Jason Krajeski has a 2.16 earned run average.

Quick Hits... Sophomore John Scaife (Ansonia, Conn./Ansonia) had an eight-game hitting streak snapped against Canisius last Sunday. Scaife is the team's leading hitter with a .341 batting average. He has 15 hits in 44 at-bats, and a solid .408 on-base percentage ... Senior Nick Hudyma (New Britain, Conn./New Britain) is 12-of-14 in stolen base attempts this season. Hudyma also leads the team with eight multiple hit games this season. He is hitting .303 on the season with 20 hits and is tied for the team-lead in runs scored with 12... Sophomore Doug Anderson (Randolph, N.J./Delbarton)has a team-high 13 runs batted in, and is tied for runs scored with 12 ... Junior David Soucy (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) had a solid weekend against Canisius to raise his average to .340 on the season. Against the Griffs, Soucy was 7-for-11 with five runs scored; three RBI and a double over the course of three games ... Senior Antuan Barnett (Bronx, N.Y./Rice) smacked his third homerun of the season against Canisius last Saturday. Barnett was 4-for-10 with four runs scored and five runs batted in ... Senior Tom Maisano (Farmingdale, N.Y./Chaminade) continued his hot start to the 2004 season. Maisano picked up his third win of the season against the Griffs on Saturday. The Long Island native pitched eight innings on six hit ball, while giving up only three runs, one which was earned, and struck out six hitters. Maisano now has 160 for his career and is now two shy of tying Steve Colcord for fourth place on the school's all-time strikeout list ... Entering this week's action, the Stags have won three of its last four games ... As a team the Stags are hitting .429 (3-7) with the bases loaded, and with a runner on third, and less than two outs the Stags are hitting .514 (19-37) ... Fairfield is scheduled to play six games against Nutmeg State opponents. Already this season, the Stags spilt a home-and-home series with Central Connecticut State, and Fairfield's game with Connecticut scheduled for last Thursday, will be made up as part of a doubleheader on April 20. The Stags will also face Yale on April 21.

Fairfield will host Rider University on Thursday afternoon at Alumni Diamond, for the beginning of a MAAC series. The teams will conclude the series with a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon. First pitch on Thursday is scheduled for 3 p.m., and the twinbill will start at 12 p.m., on Saturday.
