On Deck... After defeating Hartford in a shootout on Tuesday afternoon, at Alumni Diamond, the Fairfield University baseball team welcomes Rider to town for the beginning of a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series, with a single nine inning game. Fairfield enters the series with a 7-10 overall record, while Rider is 7-14 overall, and 2-4 in the MAAC.
All-Time vs. Rider... This afternoon's meeting with the Broncs is the 36th all-time meeting. Rider has controlled the series holding a 26-9 edge in the series. Rider took all three games in Lawrenceville, N.J., last season.
Quick Hits... Fairfield pounded out 14 hits and scored 12 runs in a non-conference win over Hartford on a windy Tuesday afternoon at Alumni Diamond. Junior Andy Lynn (Montville, N.J./Delbarton) led the Stags at the plate going 4-for-6 with two runs batted in and two runs scored ... Junior David Soucy (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) was 4-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI against the Hawks. He has raised his batting average to a team-high .385 and is tied for the team-lead in hits with 20. He also has a team-high .407 on-base percentage ... Against Hartford, sophomore Doug Anderson (Randolph, N.J./Delbarton) was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and a run batted in. Anderson for the season is hitting .293 with 14 runs scored and 14 runs batted in. The New Jersey native also sports a .386 on-base percentage, and a .534 slugging percentage ... As of Monday morning, Fairfield was third in the MAAC in team pitching with a 4.80 ERA. Behind LeMoyne who is in second with a 4.67, and Saint Peter's with a 3.73. Senior Tom Maisano (Farmingdale, N.Y./Chaminade) and junior Tim Dugan (Cedar Grove, N.J./Seton Hall Prep) are the top two pitchers in the MAAC according to the latest rankings. Maisano leads the conference with a 1.93 ERA, and a perfect 3-0 record in 28.0 innings. Dugan is second in ERA with a 2.73 mark in 26.1 innings on the hill for the Stags ... Senior Nick Hudyma (New Britain, Conn./New Britain) is first in the MAAC with two triples and second in the MAAC with 12 stolen bases.
