SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Fairfield University baseball team will head to Syracuse, N.Y., this weekend for a key Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series with two-time defending MAAC Champion Le Moyne College. The teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon at Dick Rockwell Field on the Le Moyne campus. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m.
On Sunday, the teams will finish the three-game set with a nine-inning game at Alliance Bank Stadium, the home of the Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, the Syracuse SkyChiefs. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m. Fans in the Central New York region, can watch the game live on Time Warner Sports Channel 26 in the Syracuse area.
Fairfield is 5-16 overall this season, after falling 9-6 to Albany on Wednesday afternoon, however, the Stags are 3-3 in the MAAC, after sweeping Saint Peter's last week, which included a 29-10 thumping on Sunday afternoon. Junior John Scaife (Ansonia, Conn./Ansonia) was 2-for-3 with a career-high six RBI, in that game. Junior Tom Arpino (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian) was 5-for-6 with five runs batted in and four runs scored.
Freshman Brian Rudolph (Washington Township, N.J./Bergen Catholic) was named the MAAC Rookie of the week, on Monday, after he produced a solid week at the plate for the Stags, last week. Rudolph hit .625 last week with 10 hits, including four doubles, three runs, four runs batted in, and a stolen base.
The Time Warner Syracuse division services over 338,000 homes in the following Central New York areas: the City of Syracuse and suburban Syracuse, Fulton, Oswego, Cortland, and Central Square, Ithaca, Rome, Ilion, Oneida, Boonville, Watertown, Carthage, Ogdensburg, Potsdam, Massena, Malone, and Champlain.
The game will also be rebroadcast in these areas on April 11 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Tuesday April 12 at 11 a.m.
Following the three-game series at Le Moyne, Fairfield will face Fordham University, on Tuesday afternoon for a 3:30 p.m. first pitch. The game will be played at Pace University in Pleasantville, N.Y., because of renovations to the fields at Fordham University.
