Lighting Up the Scoreboard - Fairfield continues to roll, winning nine of their last 12 games. During that span they have averaged 8.83 runs per game, batted .326, and cracked 22 home runs.
Who's Hot - Sophomore Jon Novalis batted .467 (7-for-15) in three games last week with a home run, six RBI, five runs scored and was a perfect 2-for-2 in stolen bases. He went 4-for-6 with four RBI in the Stags' 14-0 shutout of first place Iona on Monday and was 3-for-5 with a two-run homer and three runs scored in an 11-7 win over St. Peter's. Novalis is now second on the squad with five home runs and 20 RBI.
Shutting them Down - Junior Steve Colcord helped the Stags take two-of-three from first place Iona with a complete game shutout on Monday. He fanned nine, walked three and scattered just six hits to earn his first win of the season. In his last three appearances, Colcord has allowed just three earned runs over 16.2 innings pitched for a 1.67 ERA.
Workhorses - Dave Catelotti made his team-leading 10th appearance on Saturday. He has struck out 25 in 29.2 innings pitched. Dan Krines upped his team-leading innings pitched total to 56.2 on Saturday. The sophomore righty fanned six, improving his team-leading season total in that category to 32.
Catch Them If You Can - The Stags stole six bases on Saturday, bringing their total to 53 on the year (1.83 per game). It marked the fourth time this year Fairfield has swiped six in a game.
The Close Ones - Fairfield is 7-1 in games decided by two runs or less, 5-1 in games decided by one run.
