FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Fairfield University third baseman Sal Mancuso (Bethpage, N.Y./Bethpage) is ranked seventh by the NCAA in doubles per game according to the April 14th rankings.
With games through April 13, Mancuso has 12 doubles for a 0.55 per game average. Rick Guarno of Arkansas-Little Rock leads the Nation with 20 doubles for a 0.59 per game average followed by Andrew Wishy of Arkansas (19, 0.56), Lee Cutis of College of Charleston (20, 0.56), Dustin Pedroia of Arizona State (25, 0.56), Brian Oakes (11, 0.55), Dusty Young, New Mexico (23, 0.55).
The minimum cutoff is seven doubles and 0.40 per game.
Mancuso enters today's game with the University of Rhode Island with a .316 batting average with 25 hits, and 10 runs batted in. He is tied for the team lead in multiple hit games with nine. The Bethpage, N.Y., native has a .468 slugging percentage and a .423 on-base percentage.
The Stags face the Rams this afternoon with a 3:30 p.m. first pitch on the Alumni Diamond.
