Fairfield, Conn. - Fairfield University's Steve Colcord (N. Hampton, N.H.) was named Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week today. The junior righty earned the honor for the first time this season.
Colcord tossed a complete game, 14-0 shutout against first-place Iona last Monday. He struck out nine batters, walked three and scattered just six hits to earn his first win of the season. In his last three appearances, Colcord has allowed just three earned runs over 16.2 innings pitched for a 1.67 earned run average.
The Stags are currently 13-16 overall and 7-6 in MAAC play. They have won nine of their last 12 games, including taking two-of-three from Iona last weekend. Fairfield will play again on Tuesday, April 18, at Pace University.
