FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University baseball team welcomes Marist College to Alumni Diamond for a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) doubleheader this afternoon. Fairfield enters today with a 6-6 mark in the MAAC while the Red Foxes are 7-5 in MAAC play.
Quick Hits: Senior John Scaife recently became the sixth member of the 100-RBI club at Fairfield ... He went 2-for-4 with a pair of homeruns on Monday at Manhattan ... He enters today with 101 runs batted in, which is eight shy of Mike Svab (1987-90) for fifth place on the school's all-time list ... Tom Lopusznick (1997-2000) is the all-time leader with 165 ... Senior Doug Anderson needs nine hits to tie Andy Larned (1995-98) for fifth place on the school's all-time hits list with 160 ... Anderson enters the weekend with 161 total hits ... He also needs 12 more hits for 40 on the season ... Anderson has recorded 40 or more hits in each of his first three seasons at Fairfield ... Senior Dan Breen is inching closer to moving into second place on the school's all-time appearance list ... After an appearance on Wednesday against Yale, Breen has took to the mound 47 times in his career ... Tim Dugan (2001-05) and Dave Carelotti (1997-2000) are tied for second with 51 appearances ... With games played through April 18 Fairfield is tied with Manhattan for the lead in fielding percentage with a .961 mark ... Fairfield is also 20th in the latest NCAA rankings with 1.10 double plays per game ... Junior Ed Kamintzky is third in the MAAC with 48 strikeouts ... Last year as a junior he recorded 52 K's in 76.0 innings of work.
Fairfield-Marist Series History: Marist holds a 24-5 record against Fairfield ... Marist swept the series last season as the home team at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard and McCann Field ... In 2004 at Alumni Diamond the Stags took the first game, 5-1 but dropped the next two 1-0, and 6-0.
Around the MAAC: League-leading Niagara visits Rider in a three-game series ... Manhattan who are tied with the Broncs for second place will host Iona, LeMoyne who are tied with Marist for fourth will travel to Saint Peter's, and Siena will travel to Canisius.
