FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University baseball team will play its last non-conference games at home this week, with Fordham University, on Wednesday afternoon, and a make-up game from earlier in the season against Stony Brook, on Thursday. Both games at Alumni Diamond are slated to begin at 3:30 p.m.
The Stags are coming off its third Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) series of the season, taking 2-of-3 at Niagara over the weekend. Fairfield is 12-17 overall, and 7-8 in the MAAC.
Fordham is 17-20-1 overall, and 8-7 in the Atlantic-10, heading into a nine-inning game with Iona on Tuesday afternoon. Stony Brook is 16-19 overall, and 3-6 in the America East as of Tuesday afternoon.
The Stags are led by junior David Soucy (Glastonbury, Conn./Glastonbury) at the plate with a .284 batting average. Senior Nick Hudyma (New Britain, Conn./New Britain) is second with a .280 average, and has stolen 16-of-21 bases this season.
On the hill, freshman Ed Kamintzky (Astoria, N.Y./Regis) is 4-0 with a 2.53 ERA, and 20 strike outs in 21.1 innings of work. Opponents are batting .177 against him, and he has allowed only six earned runs this season.
After the mid-week games the Stags will focus on MAAC action, as it will head to Iona College on Saturday and Sunday afternoon for a three-game series.
