FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Fairfield University baseball team will honor its eight graduating players on Saturday afternoon, when the Stags host Canisius College in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) doubleheader, at Alumni Diamond. First pitch for the twinbill is slated for 12 p.m.

The short ceremony will recognize, Doug Anderson (Randolph, N.J./Delbarton), Tom Arpino (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xaverian), Dan Breen (Troy, N.Y./Troy), Paul DeMarco (Honeoye Falls, N.Y./Duke University), Jim Girolamo (Wayland, Mass./Wayland), Dewey Raymond (Norwalk, Conn./Trinity Catholic), John Scaife (Ansonia, Conn./Ansonia), and Steve Tyburski (Feasterville, Pa./Holy Ghost Prep) for their years of service.

Also three of the graduating seniors could reach milestones this weekend against Canisius. Anderson needs one more hit to tie Andy Larned (1995-98) for fifth place on the school's all-time hits list. After Tuesday's game at Stony Brook, the Randolph, N.J. native has 169 hits. He also needs four hits to reach 40 for the season. He has recorded 40 or more hits each of his three previous seasons for the Stags.

Breen is currently fourth on the all-time appearance list, and needs one more to move into a three-way tie for second with 51. Tim Dugan (2001-05) and Dave Carelotti (1997-2000) are currently knotted for second on the appearance list. Scott Larkin (1990-93) is the all-time leader with 55.

Scaife, who recently became the sixth member of the 100-RBI club at Fairfield, needs four more, to move into a tie with Mike Svab (1987-90) with 109. As a junior Scaife, drove in 47 runners which place's him second on the single-season list. This year he has 29 RBI. The senior first baseman is also tied for second in homeruns in MAAC games with four.

Fairfield enters the weekend with a 7-10 mark in the MAAC, while Canisius is 5-13 in conference play.

The teams are slated to play a doubleheader on Saturday, and the series will conclude on Sunday afternoon with a nine-inning game. First pitch is slated for 12 p.m.
