FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Former Fairfield University pitcher Tim Dugan (2002-05) made his professional debut last week with the North Shore Spirit of the CamAm League (IND). Dugan pitched two innings of relief in North Shore's 14-3 win over Quebec on June 14.
He pitched two innings allowing just one run on three hits with two strikeouts in his first appearance.
The Spirit, are currently 12-8 on the season, just a game back of league-leading Sussex. North Shore travels to Connecticut this weekend for a three-game series with the New Haven County Cutters.
The series begins on Friday with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch at Yale Field. Saturday's game is also slated for 7:05 p.m., and the series finale is set for Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m.
Krines with Bluefish: In addition to Dugan pitching in Independent ball, former Fairfield pitcher Dan Krines is in his second season with the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League. Krines is 1-2 on the season in 22.1 innings pitched.
Record-Setting: There was movement in the record book this season, as several players put up some impressive performances.
**Senior Doug Anderson (Randolph, N.J./Delbarton) moved into fourth place on the school's all-time hits list with 177 ... The senior shortstop, finished the year second on the team with 47 hits.
**Senior Dan Breen (Troy, N.Y./Troy) became the school's all-time appearance leader, making his 56th appearance in the final game of the season against Siena ... As a junior he set a school-record for appearances in a season with 22, and was just shy of tying it this season with 21 trips to the mound for the Stags.
**Freshman Dan Gallagher (Allendale, N.J./Bergen Catholic) recorded seven saves in his first collegiate season, which is good for second on the single-season list ... Scott Larkin had 10 saves in the 1992 season.
**Junior Ed Kamintzky (Astoria, N.Y./Regis) struck out 76 batters, which is fourth on the season list ... He also tossed 90.2 innings on the hill, which is fourth for innings in a season.
**Senior John Scaife (Ansonia, Conn./Ansonia) finished his career with 114 runs batted in which is fifth on the all-time list.
Wrapping Up 2006:
Fairfield finished sixth place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) with a 12-14 record ... Fairfield won five of nine conference series, including taking two of three against the MAAC Champion Manhattan College on the road, and the MAAC runner-up LeMoyne at Alumni Diamond.
