BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Former Fairfield University baseball pitcher Dan Krines, who is a member of the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League, was named to the Atlantic League North Division All-Star Team, as an alternate.
In his first season with the Bluefish, Krines is 4-1, after picking up a win on Monday evening against the Somerset Patriots. He has appeared in 22 games for the Bluefish, and has pitched 32.1 innings of relief. The 2002 Fairfield graduate, has stuck out 26 hitters while walking only 10.
The 2005 Atlantic League All-Star Game will be played on Wednesday, July 13 at the Sandcastle in Atlantic City, N.J.
Krines is in his third season of professional baseball, after playing two seasons with the River City Rascals of the Frontier League (IND). In his two seasons with River City he won 10 games as a starter and a reliever, and stuck out 86 hitters.
As a member of the Fairfield baseball team, Krines had his best season in 2000, as he was 8-2 with a 3.39 eared run average. He also spent two seasons with the Chatham A's of the Cape Cod Leauge, and was named Co-Pitcher of the Year in 2000.
He ranks second all-time at Fairfield with 18 complete games. In 2000, he was a second-team All-New England pick, and a second-team All-Northeast selection. He was also a member of the Fairfield University football team, from 1998 to 2000.
